Nutritional Therapy is a recognized complementary medicine based on scientific research. It promotes health by addressing the root cause of your symptoms and supports the body on a holistic level. Additionally, it identifies potential nutritional imbalances and how they affect health.
Nutritional therapy is NOT a replacement of the conventional medicine. The nutritional therapist works in harmony alongside medical and other healthcare practitioners to support the body and health conditions. It's important to understand that Nutritional therapist doesn’t diagnose, treat or cure, but what we do is support the body with the right nutrition and lifestyle changes, so it works at its optimum potential.
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food"- Hippocrates.
The food we eat has a fundamental impact on our health as well as emotional well-being and function. It is not only fuel for the body but also has a crucial role in either building the cells or destroying them. Food should provide needed nutrients and building blocks for us, so the body works in the best possible way. Unfortunately, in today's world, there are lots of man-made toxic "foods" that not only does not provide us nutrients but also rob our body form the vital energy and lead us to various heal conditions.
Nutritional Therapy focuses on finding and removing the root cause of your health problem and supporting the body systems, so they function with its optimum health and vitality. Complementary medicine is relevant for people with chronic conditions, and individuals who would like to support their health. It's important to remember that Nutritional therapist has a holistic approach and treat the body as a whole and not as individual symptoms or condition on its own. Nutritional therapy can be beneficial to anyone.
Modern life has its hardship such as: living in a constant sympathetic 'fight and flight mode,' working long hours, stress, ready meals, and fast food on the run, caffeine overdose, all of which doesn’t live the body without the mark. The body works in a specific way where different systems perform a particular function to maintain homeostasis. When this harmony is disrupted for some time, there might be some symptoms that develop or specific health condition.
Nutritional therapy during the case study taking has a closer look at the system and the disruptions and identifies that to support the body to re-balance itself. Nutritional therapy suggests back to nature, slowing down, unwinding, and consumption of good quality foods that are nutrient dense to give the body all the building blocks to maintain wellbeing, vitality, positivity and the best energy.
The initial consultation is designed in a way that the registered nutritional therapist will get all the information about your health history. The interview is based on you, your symptoms, well-being, triggers, and drivers that contribute to how you feel. The initial consultation is very in depth, and the questions start from the early childhood, going through all the body systems (digestive, endocrine, nervous, reproductive, immune, skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular and skin) looking for any signs and symptoms of the root causes.
It usually lasts about an hour and a half. Before the consultation, you will be sent a questionnaire to fill in and five days of your food dairy based on your food intake on typical days.
After completing all the information, I will then analyse and create a tailored nutritional and lifestyle programmed based on your health situation and what would you like to achieve.
You will come back in a few days for the 30-45 min, and I will present the plan, and we will agree on how you can implement the changes to your diet and lifestyle so you can achieve the best effects and health goals.
Follow up consultation
Follow up an appointment (in a month or so) is a review of your health and how the suggested changes made the difference or you had some difficulties with implementing them. Follow up consultation usually, last for one hour, and we discuss how the changes affected your health and what would be the way forward.
We all are an individual human being with own biochemistry and microbiome that is why there is no 'ONE fits all approach.' All consultations are based on your needs and are tailored to your health situation.
The changes to your diet and lifestyle help the body to achieve optimum health.
